Presentation of IRIS catamarans at the Swiss exhibition EXPO 2002
18/11/2002 by IR in Year 2002

GOOD IMPRESSIONS BY IRIS CATAMARANS IN ACTION

159 days lasted the famous Swiss National Exhibition EXPO 2002 from May 15th till October 20th. In order to transfer both exhibitors and visitors to and fro between the various arte plages, the organizers used 6 IRIS catamarans of the French shipyard Fountaine Pajot, which carried in total 630.010 passengers. During these five months the French vessels made a good impression with their reliability and the low fuel consumption.

More precisely, the two IRIS 6.2 catamarans of 42,77 m. length with a capacity of 400 passengers each,  consumed on average 401 litres of fuel per hour. Given the fact that IRIS 6.2 maximum speed is 40 knots, 1 litre of fuel per hour per passenger is quite low. More impressive were the figures for the four 26-meter IRIS 3.1, which consumed on average 35 litres of fuel per hour. IRIS 3.1 carries up to 200 passengers at a speed exceeding 26 knots.

IRIS catamarans series also include the models IRIS 6.1, which has the same length with that of 6.2 but it carries 300 passengers at a speed up to 37 knots, IRIS Cargo, which has a wide platform for the transportation of bulky merchandise as well as the 12-meter IRIS 37 which carries 50 passengers at a speed up to 20 knots. IRIS 37 can be equipped with all the gear necessary for scuba diving and sea sports in general.

IRIS catamarans are well known for the adjustability to different uses, the comfort that offer to the passengers, the stability at sea, the flexibility in small ports, the high level of security and the top quality of the modern materials used for the hull and the deck. IRIS catamarans are exclusively represented in Greece by Kiriacoulis Mediterranean, 7 Alimou Ave , 174 55 Alimos, tel. 210 98 86 187-91, fax 210 98 44 529, e-mail: sales@kiriacoulis.com, website: www.kiriacoulis.com.
